Wyandotte Shores Golf Course | Wyandotte, Michigan

Through careful and meticulous team building and leadership, we were able to transform an abandoned BASF chemical factory into a wonderful golf course and public park.

PRE-EXISTING BASF CHEMICAL FACTORY

This site had over 500 different chemicals and "hot spots" that needed to be ameliorated.

Having served BASF Corporation as a chemical factory for over 100 years, the site had many unfavorable characteristics -- all of which were analyzed during the design process.

The overall concept for the site was to recreate a landscape over/above the degraded site, while still having the site naturally meet the waters edge.

We worked closely with Johnson/Hill and Associates to integrate

public space and the golf landscape.

Over 600,000 cubic yards of material were hauled onto the 65 acre site to create the landscape.

Through creative and innovative design and engineering, we we even able to

create water features on the site. Notice the HDPE liners in the background.

The park and golf course now let people experience the waters edge.

We carefully designed areas where non-golfers and golfers could interact to experience the natural forms and features.

The golf course also plays so that golfers of all levels -- from the beginner to Tiger Woods -- would enjoy a challenging and fair round of golf while taking in the natural beauty of the Detroit River.
