Moose Ridge | South Lyon, Michigan

Why the name?   Well the Owner, Dr. Bill Shortt, bagged a moose on a hunting trip and when he came back to his home; his wife told him that his trophy was not going in his house. So, he decided to build a golf course behind his house, and, said "This is going in the clubhouse! - and the name of the golf course is going to be Moose Ridge!"

And since the site actually has the feel of "moose country", we thought Dr. Bill was definitely on to something. The site is only 160 acres, but we were able to route and design the course that fit the landscape like a glove. This allowed the course to be built on a very reasonable budget - something we're able to accomplish better than anyone in the business. The strategic design allows for a variety of ways to play each hole - which is the essence of top-quality design. And. not to mention, the forms on the course blend with the existing topography, making it practically impossible to tell the difference between what was created by man and what was created by nature.
